Today we celebrate the feast of the Queenship of Mary, instituted by
Pius XII "so that all may clearly recognize and more zealously
venerate the kind and maternal rule of the Mother of God." Coming
eight days after the feast of the Assumption of Mary, it completes the
octave of this feast, which celebrates Mary's share in the glory of
Jesus, her Son. Although this feast was placed on the calendar in
1954, its origin is much earlier. In the fourth century Saint Ephrem
gave Mary the title of "Queen." During the early Middle Ages, many
hymns sing to and about "Mary, Queen of Heaven" or Mary as "Queen of
the Angels."
When the virgin of virgins was led forth by God and her Son, the
King of kings, amid the company of exulting angels and rejoicing
archangels, with the heavens ringing with praise, the prophecy of the
psalmist was fulfilled, in which he said to the Lord: 'At your right
hand stands the queen, clothed in gold . . . ' -- Saint Amadeus of
Lausanne
Scripture
(New Revised Standard Version)
We give thanks to God always for you all, constantly mentioning you in
our prayers, remembering before our God and Creator your work of faith
and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.
For we know, sisters and brothers beloved by God, that God has chosen
you; for our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power
and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction. You know what kind of
people we proved to be among you for your sake. For not only has the
word of the Lord Jesus sounded forth from you in Macedonia and Achaia,
but your faith in God has gone forth everywhere, so that we need not
say anything. For they themselves report concerning us what a welcome
we had among you, and how you turned to God from idols, to serve a
living and true God, and to wait for God's Son from heaven, who was
raised from the dead, Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come.
1 Thessalonians 1:2-5, 8-10
Jesus said to the crowds, "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees,
hypocrites! For you lock people out of the kingdom of heaven. For you
do not go in yourselves, and when others are going in, you stop them.
Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you cross sea and
land to make a single convert, and you make the new convert twice as
much a child of hell as yourselves. Woe to you, blind guides, who say,
'Whoever swears by the sanctuary is bound by nothing, but whoever
swears by the gold of the sanctuary is bound by the oath.' You blind
fools! For which is greater, the gold or the sanctuary that has made
the gold sacred? And you say, 'Whoever swears by the altar is bound by
nothing, but whoever swears by the gift that is on the altar is bound
by the oath.' How blind you are! For which is greater, the gift or the
altar that makes the gift sacred? So whoever swears by the altar,
swears by it and by everything on it; and whoever swears by the
sanctuary, swears by it and by the one who dwells in it; and whoever
swears by heaven, swears by the throne of God and by the one who is
seated upon it."
Matthew 23:23-26
Quote of the Day
(Julian of Norwich)
"Hail to you, O greenest, most fertile branch! You budded forth amidst
breezes and winds in search of the knowledge of all that is holy. When
the time was ripe your own branch brought forth blossoms. Hail,
greetings to you!"

'From this then, we draw up our demurrer: If the Lord Jesus Christ sent the
Apostles to preach, no others ought to be received except those appointed
by Christ. For no one knows the Father except the Son, and to him whom
the Son gives a revelation. Nor does it seem that the Son has given revelation
to any others than the Apostles, whom He sent forth to preach what He
revealed to them.'
- Tertullian, The Prescription [Demurrer] Against the Heretics: (200 A.D.)
(This is a Pre-Constantine source and like in all other instances that I am able to find
- there is no difference between the Pre and Post Constantine practice.
In other words, Constantine didn't change this doctrine)
